Biography

William Michael Boyle is a Senior Trial Counsel at our firm.  His areas of practice typically include complex civil litigation, primarily involving fires & explosions, construction site accidents, premises liability, motor vehicle and other transportation accidents, products liability claims & suits and medical malpractice.  Prior to joining the firm, Bill gained extensive jury trial experience at various firms in the Greater New York City area, handling both insurance defense and plaintiff’s civil suits and trials, as well as federal civil rights claims.

Bill is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the United States District Courts for the District of New Jersey, the Southern & Eastern Districts of New York and the District of Colorado.  He also has argued appeals before New York’s Appellate Division, First Department and Appellate Division, Second Department and once managed litigation nationwide for a major insurance company’s excess casualty claims department.  Such claims and suits invariably involved fatalities, multiple fatalities, catastrophic bodily injuries and large property damage losses implicating the client’s first-layer excess and/or entire tower of coverage.

In 1984, Bill received a combined Bachelor of Arts/Master of Arts in Criminal Justice (cum laude) from John Jay College of Criminal Justice [JJC/CUNY].  While attending JJC, Bill was accepted into the school’s BA/MA Program and also was employed by JJC’s Office of Special Programs as a graduate teaching/research assistant.  He received his Juris Doctor from the City of New York Law School in 1988, where he had a second-year internship with the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund in New York City.  Bill also is a veteran firefighter, fire officer, chief officer and fire academy instructor (ret.) in New Jersey and once served as Director of the Ocean County Fire Academy’s Northern Division Firefighter 1 (basic training) Program.  His extensive and varied fire service training and experience has proved invaluable in fire & explosion, firefighter injury/fatality, products liability. construction site accident and even motor vehicle and other transportation accident claims & suits.

In his spare time, Bill enjoys the beaches of the Jersey Shore, hiking with his 125lb. hound dog rescue and spending time with his daughters (in college) and his son, a US Navy Corpsman.  Though he no longer plays rugby, Bill is most appreciative for all the orthopedic and trauma medicine knowledge he had accumulated during those years.
