Biography
Jeffrey K. Van Etten joined the firm in 1989 and became a member in 1992. Over the years he has successfully represented defendants in cases involving the New York State Labor Law, lead paint litigation, product liability, negligent security and both dental and medical malpractice matters. In addition to dozens of trials, with some of the more recent verdicts addressed in our “News” section, Mr. Van Etten has also been involved in multiple appellate cases resulting in decisions that have been favorable to the defense bar.
Mr. Van Etten has frequently lectured on the New York State Labor Law, motor vehicle litigation, and dental and medical malpractice to multiple insurance carriers and professional groups. He recently lectured on “Trial Skills/Techniques” over multiple days, as part of the joint DANY-New York County Lawyers Association panel member.
Currently, Mr. Van Etten is on the Board of Directors for the Defense Association of New York (DANY); was recently invited to become and is a Member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA); is a member of the New York State and New York City Bar Associations; the New York County Lawyers Association; the Brooklyn Manhattan Trial Lawyers Association; and the Defense Research Institute.
He is admitted to the New York State and New Jersey Bars as well as the United States District Courts, Eastern and Southern Districts. Mr. Van Etten received his Juris Doctor degree from St. John’s University School of Law in 1987, and his Bachelor of Science degree was from Ohio University in 1984
